Economic Development Committee Fast Facts


  • Increased participation among members of the Rochester Area Hispanic/Latino Community (RAHLC) engaging their expertise and business wisdom to create a process to enhance economic opportunities by ongoing, sustainable means
  • Entice national and international venture capital to entrepreneurial initiatives in the Greater Rochester Area
  • Monitor and ensure equal opportunity and access to financial resources and effective methods for economic development


  • Research current state of economic development using important economic indicators for RAHLC
  • Prepare a dashboard report regarding current state of important economic metrics in RAHLC
  • Using a holistic, participatory process, study, understand and develop potential solutions and appropriate resources to address problems and opportunities identified for RAHLC
  • Establish a comprehensive network of connections between Rochester institutions and businesses and organizations in foreign countries

Needs / Solutions:

  • Identify volunteers with expertise in entrepreneurship, effective business processes and business networks
  • Approach potential RAHLC candidates for membership in corporate and charitable Boards of Directors
  • Organize an exchange with strategic South American and Central American partners in order to share experiences and opportunities

About the Committee:

The Economic Development Committee consists of La Cumbre volunteers interested in learning about and becoming involved in economic development efforts in the Greater Rochester Area. Among other activities, the committee will promote and develop international connections between businesses and organizations in the Rochester area and businesses and organizations in foreign countries.

  • Continuing efforts to raise awareness of MWBE certification
  • La Cumbre has influenced multiple initiatives to promote a culture of entrepreneurship in our community

El Mural de La Comunidad feature in El Mensajero Católico paper: 2015 ("El Mural de la Comunidad" is a joint venture between El Mensajero Católico and several community groups: La Cumbre, Rochester Hispanic Business Association, Rochester Latino Rotary Club and Ibero-American Action League.) (a “Proyecto Estrella” project)
