JOB POSTING: Political Associate


PT, Potentially FT depending on applicants

 **MCDC will have an open 2-week period to accept applications to fill this position from May 25th 2016 to June 8th  2016. Following that time, the Chairwoman and a committee of her choosing will conduct interviews an consider all applicants**

The Political Associate primary responsibility will be the to manage the organizing efforts of mobilizing and engaging Committee Members, Leaders, and area Democrats to become and stay active in local politics/campaigns. This position will report directly to the Chairwoman. Past campaign field experience is preferred.

This will include, but not be limited to,

  • Management and communication with our members regarding the designating petitioning process, filing deadlines and volunteer opportunities with the Committee
  • Coordinating communications and efforts across local campaigns underway in Monroe County
  • Assisting in the implementation of voter registration and local canvassing efforts
  • Oversight of interns and volunteers during normal business house (9am-5pm)
  • Analyzing and understanding voter turnout data and trends, to assist in the creation of local campaign plans and targeting
    • Working knowledge of VAN/Votebuilder and/or Microsoft Access
  • Bring forth new ideas and initiatives on ways to engage and reinvigorate Committee Members and the community

 Necessary Skills:

  • 1-2 years previous political/campaign experience
  • VAN/Votebuilder experience*
  • Outgoing personality*
  • Writing Skills
  • Time management
  • Organizational skills
